Hélène Goulet is a native of Quebec City. She belongs to the Ferland-Doyon lineage of the Beauce region, sensitive to the arts. Her uncle, Jean-Charles Doyon, a poet, painter, and art critic in Montreal, and a great admirer of Paul-Émile Borduas, was certainly a role model for her in the path she dreamed of becoming a painter.
From a very young age, drawing and painting with gouache allowed her to express her perception of things and the world around her; this mode of expression fascinated her. Hélène Goulet wanted to convey her states of mind and soul and communicate the enthusiasm for everything that surrounded her and inhabited her.
Since evening art classes weren't enough, Hélène Goulet resolutely headed to the École des Beaux-arts de Québec, this time full-time. After graduating, she earned a bachelor's degree in art teaching from Laval University and taught in public schools for a while before devoting herself to painting. A few years later, to expand her knowledge and skills, she completed her bachelor's degree in visual arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Mastering stained glass and receiving a grant in glass painting, she created stained glass windows at the Parminou Creation Center in Victoriaville, as part of the Program for the Integration of Arts into Architecture and the Environment, in 1989. Receiving another grant from the Quebec Ministry of Cultural Affairs, she created a series of paintings entitled "Antres" in 1992. Recognized by several awards, including the Award of Excellence in Drawing in 1992, at the 1st Edition of the Ville-Marie International Miniature Art Biennial, she also received the 1st Award of Excellence in Visual Arts from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the East Island of Montreal in 2002.
As for her social and professional commitment, she contributed to the creation and growth of the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec, RAAV, as well as the co-founding of an artists' association in Victoriaville, GRAVE; the awakening and awareness of the arts among the population was close to her heart. Private art workshops on color theory, developed by Johannes Itten of the Bauhaus School, were offered to adults in Montreal and the surrounding region, as well as workshops for children.
