The Light Currents collection

by Maggie Romanovici

Maggie Ramanovici's series of twelve canvases unfolds as a visual exploration of movement, atmosphere, and inner landscape. Throughout the works, color acts as a living force that expands, collides, dissolves, and recomposes. Fields of luminous blues and turquoises evoke air and water, while darker gestures anchor the compositions with their density and tension. Sudden bursts of red, yellow, or orange appear as moments of awakening.

Rather than depicting specific places, these paintings suggest landscapes in transformation. Fluid washes, scraped textures, and rapid gestures create a rhythm between control and spontaneity. Lines appear as fleeting structures—bridges, horizons, or currents—before dissolving back into the colored matter. The eye wanders through spaces that are both atmospheric and tangible, suspended between landscape, memory, and abstraction.

Together, these works compose a continuous passage. Each painting becomes a moment within a larger flow, where light and matter enter a state of perpetual transformation. The series invites the viewer not to seek a fixed meaning, but to feel the movement itself: the experience of traversing light, color, and space.
