ABOUT THE EVENT
Galerie Éclats is pleased to present When Space Becomes Lines , a solo exhibition by the artist Miae Ham.
Opening reception on June 11th from 5pm to 8:30pm at the Éclats gallery
In Miae Ham's practice, paper is never a mere support. It becomes skin, trace, scar, territory of erosion. Hanji and Sambe, traditional Korean materials, meet ink, oil, and acrylic in a series of gestures where each tear, each layering, each exposed fiber prolongs the memory of what came before.
The exhibition brings together recent works in which the artist pushes his practice to the very edge of sculpture. Paper becomes a wall, imbued with opacities and transparencies, welcoming light as a material in its own right. Chalky whites, deep blacks, and organic nuances compose an almost telluric atmosphere, as if the material had passed through the slow forces of nature.
